Default Email: Comcast + Outlook + Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I'll try to be as clear and concise as possible:

What I want:
-Use Outlook AND Blackberry to check my email. I subscribe to Comcast, but do NOT use their web-based email program.
-Throughout the day I want to check my email with Outlook on my laptop, but when my laptop is off, I want to use my Blackberry to receive and send emails..
-At the end of the day I want to sync up my Blackberry <---> Outlook.

Is this possible? If this doesn't work with Comcast, can I do it with Gmail? Like I said, I don't want to use the web-based email program. I just want to sync up my Blackberry and my Outlook at the end of the day, hard-wired.

Thanks,

Pete

Nope. Not possible. Not automatically, anyway.

BlackBerry email on BIS (meaning not a corporate device) does not sync.

You can manually reconcile (not sync) if you want. But it won't do it automatically.

And if you want emails that you send from your BlackBerry to appear on your computer, you would need to CC them to yourself. You can, however, set up an automatic BCC on your email set up via your carrier's BIS website.

Wirelessly posted (9530; .135 MF231)

On a personal BIS account only the calendar, addressbook, memos and tasks will sync ir reconcile. Never messages.
On a POP3 comcast account you will be able reconcile deleted messages on the BlackBerry to delete on the comcast email server.

I also use Comcast and Outlook. What I did and I like, is I went into the Comcast account manager and had all incoming messages forwarded to my blackberry address. This way it goes to my comcast and my blackberry. On my blackberry email, i changed the reply to address so it shows my comcast email, to the outside it looks seamless and i have all my emials backed up in outlook too.

The problem with relying on the carrier BB address is that if there is a network outage like there has been over the last few days, then you are out of luck since the only way to read mail to that account is on the BB. If you are near a PC, then you an use Comcast's webmail but if not, you have to wait until the network is back up.

Plus if that address gets out and is "harvested" you will end up with more SPAM than you want since it is unfiltered.

And one more, if and when you change carriers, you cannot take that address with you and will have to change the forward.

If you're expecting email to only get email delivered to your laptop during the day and for email to only get delivered to your BB when the laptop is off there isn't a practical solution for this.

If it's a POP account you can configure Outlook to remove mail from the server but there's still a chance that BIS will grab email from the server before Outlook removes it.
