Default BB 8310 no connect - no wipe

It would be much appreciated if someone can help me with the problem I experience. I am sure this is or was a problem a lot of users experienced.
I was in he process of synchronizing my BB 8310 with my laptop when it froeze and gave me "app error 523".reset. I tried the reset, did not work. Went onto the BB forum and searched for this error 523. I found a number of posts and intelligent people ou there that have advice on how to solve the problem. I downloaded and installed the latest software on my device. This did not help either. Now I have only the hourglass rotating on the screen. I even downloaded JL_Cmdr and tried to wipe the device. I was unsuccessful with this as well. Even after I installed the device software, I still cannot connect to the desktp manager and stiil see the rotating hourglass.
The next step I consider is to get rid of this device as soon as I can.

Can anyone help with this??

Welcome to the forums.

How long has the hourglass been spinning?

It just keeps on spinning and I guess it will carry on until the battery is depleted.

On an OS upgrade you could see the hour glass spin for a while before it loads. That's normal. That's the reason I asked how long it has been spinning.

If it's been over an hour, I would try these steps.
