Default Backup my BB

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking for a program that is capable of backing up and restoring it to/from the BB to the media card. I am trying to avoid using the computer and DM for this. This way when I am gone for a few weeks, and my computer is at home, I can back up the BB in case something went wrong.

When you do a backup with BB DM, it saves as a file. You can save that file onto your memory card if you have one. That's what I do. In case of emergency you can get the file off your BB and do a restore with that file.

I know, but I was wondering if there was some way to do a backup without the computer. I don't take the computer with me on vacation.

you can always DL and install DTM for free on ANY PC you can get your hands on and do the backup, then uninstall it. choose without media manager so it goes quicker

You know I thought of that. Except for the fact that when I am on vacation it is usually computer free. The Mrs thinks I spend too much time on the computer now. (Even though I say I don't, I mean I do sleep for 7 hours and am not on the computer during that time.) So we leave it at home when we are gone. That is the #1 reason I bought the blackberry. #1 Internet access and #2 qwerty keyboard. I guess I could ask the people in the next tent. But thanks for the suggestion.

yes but this is ONLY if you require to do a backup, you shouldnt need to that on your vacation, its only for an emergency situation. carry your backup with you just incase and if the situation ever arises then you find a PC, install DTM restore your backup, uninstall DTM and go back to your vacation

I know, but I always prepare for the worse. Murphy's Law: If it can go wrong, it will. And I really won't be around a computer. So it would have to wait till I get home. My echeckrigister cannot import anything so the only way to restore the info is either retype it all in, or restore) and the only way to back it up is through DM. Now I can export from it, but I find that rather annoying, and if it crashes or I mess up the BB, I would have to enter all the info again. I have tried all kinds of check registers and even registered some. But this is the easiest one I found that give me the info I need on the go. I wish Pocket Quicken would get off their behind and develop one for the BB, but as of a week ago they said it was still in the planning. But they haven't started on anything yet. Maybe if Landware received a lot of emails from BB users to create a version for the BB, they might start quicker? Then all my problems would be solved.

well maybe you shouldnt be doing anything on your blackberry that would cause it to malfunction while on vacation. afterall, bb is just a small PC, and you are on vacation.

OK, I given up drinking, drugs and chasing women , so our marriage has lasted for 28 1/2 years. I even promised not to bring my laptop to the Kawasaki Vulcan Forum reunion in Maggie Valley, NC, then to my daughter house in Midway Park, NC this year. But there is a limit to the things I can give up!!! LoL

How would you restore if your BB was that messed up? In a worst case scenario you'd need a PC anyway.

Now there is a problem I didn't think of. Then I guess I will not only need a way to back up the BB every night, but a way to store it online. I know that there is a free site online to do that. It will back up my media card, through a program that installs on the BB. I guess that makes it better to back up on the media card. If the BB messed up on the last days of the vacation at least I will not have lost 2 weeks of information I had put on the BB. But if I can back it up on the Card, and use Cortado Connect for Box.net to put it online. I won't have lost it all.

Palm had several programs that used to do this (i.e. BackupBuddy). It was a useful tool, and could be set to do nightly backups and encrypt them as well.

It would be cool to have this for BB.
