It has issues lol

I have searched all over and have not found an answer for this specific issue and time to search is a bit of an issue for me. I apologize in advance if this is a repeat of another topic.

It used to work fine...

Now heres the main problem: I can recharge it through the USB connection VIA the outlet adapter or USB connection to the computer, but the computer doesn't seem to see the device. In the desktop manager it says 'device connected no device detected pin none'

This started a few weeks ago and iv'e been able to connect once since then.
That one time I was able to disconnect and reconnect several times as well as reboot and it continued to work but it did say there was something in the connection settings that had changed and needs to be accepted.. The next day it wasn't working again and hasn't worked since. From the time it worked to the time that it stopped working there were no changes made to either my PC or the BB... just the passing of time.

So far I have:

Removed and reinstalled and updated all devices in the device manager,
checked for ghost drives and such, completely removed and reinstalled my Windows Vista OS, updated everything, and tried different USB cables and ports.

Nothing seems to have had any effect so far and the one time it did connect is starting to seem like a strange random event.

I used to be a computer tech for HP same brand as my laptop PC so i'm fairly certain that this isn't an issue with the PC at this point (although I could be wrong)

My only remaining theories are:

- Hardware issue with the BB USB port
- BB software issue
- Some setting someplace that isn't set correctly
- USB power issue

I really hope it isn't a serious issue with this BB but i'm starting to wonder.

Could somebody please help me with this.

This may a reach, but have you tried signing into Vista as an Administrator?

Yea, administrator..

Maybe try creating a new user and install the BB Desktop Manager as administrator and plug it in see if that helps.

I had an issue with USB drivers on my HP laptop.. ended up using the recovery CD's to go back to defaults.

no need for admin or another user, since you completely reinstalled windows... biggest proof that it is the device is plugging it into another PC. If it does work there, its the device. get it repaired or replaced

We recommended the Admin part, because you can install the OS all you want if the install doesn't complete correctly due to lack of admin right re-installing the whole OS won't due a thing.

And if you plug the device into a second PC and the device works in that second PC when that kind of narrows it down to the PC not the device.
