Default Core Apps Pearl vs Curve

Please Login to Remove!

These files/apps are on my Pearl 8100 (OS .110) but not on my new Curve 8320 (OS .081). What are they and do I need them? I think they were already checked when I upgraded the Pearl from 4.2 to 4.5, so I accepted them.

BlackBerry MDS Runtime
BlackBerry MDS Default Launcher Properties
BlackBerry S/MIME Support Package Properties
DOD Root Certificates

I am getting ready to upgrade the Curve to .174 today or tomorrow. My only concern is that I had more free memory on the 8100 than the 8320 has at .081.

I am learning lots from this site. I borrowed my daughters Pearl while she was in Dubai for 6 weeks and now I am hooked. Thanks to all who post and respond here.

S/MIME is for encrypted emails, it will only work when on a BES.
DOD Root Cert - Probably needed either. Unless you have special circumstances were you need Dept Of Defense certificates.

MDS is for Mobile Data Service.. Only needed if on a BES.

SteveO86,

Since I am using BIS and not BES I can remove those. I can always use the space.

Thanks for your quick response.

Yea, you without any concern, they can always be re-added later on, if need be.
