This morning for some reason my Curve 8310 will not charge from the plug-in charger and when I plug it into my computer I get a windows error that the USD device is not Recognized. Of course DM will not see it either.

The Curve has been working fine for months. No new applications have been loaded.

I have done several battery pulls and tried my laptop which had DM installed and other chargers all with the same results.

The charge indicator will come on for a few seconds and then go off and it is not charging.

I guess a call to AT&T repair is in order but I thought I would post in case someone has a suggestion.

Sounds like it could be a hardware issue. Calling AT&T is a good idea, as they can walk you through some basic trouble shooting, and replace the phone for you if it is still under the warranty period.

Yep, if the phone doesn't even charge when plugged into an AC wall outlet then it's hardware.. You could wiggling the connection to try get it connect if you need to get any data off the phone, but most likely you will need a new one.

Is the charging port loose? Any bent pins? You should be able to see 5 pins in the port!

Still under warranty to the 24th of this month so I will get on it tomorrow.

Anyone have any experience with AT&T Device Support Centers? I see there is one in Willowbrook IL I will be up the way tomorrow.

Their support centers are usually pretty good in my area, however, if you do experience a problem in the one near you, you can always call AT&T's phone warranty dept. at 1-800-801-1101, and one of the representatives will work with you on getting your device fixed/replaced......... Good luck.

I have seen in some cases with ATT and Tmobile where they claim this is considered "user abuse" and they won't cover it under warranty. If you experience this you can get the charge port repaired for less than $80. checkout Cellphone-Repair-Shop.com

Well, that's not good. I never even considered that. I will find out today.

Just a final update. AT&T support is sending me out a replacement Curve under my warranty so I should be good to go in a couple of days.
