Default 8330 Latch Repair

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm a new "Crackberry addict" so be gentle. I got a Curve 8330 from Craigslist, everything works fine except the back cover will not latch close. From what I can tell it's as though the spring under the latch that holds the back cover from sliding is missing. I've done my research and found that the latch is suppose to be an easy repair and so I ordered one from CNN.CN. The only thing I have not been able to find is instructions on how to remove the old latch and install the new one.

Can anyone one out there help me so that I don't destroy my new toy....

Thanks

Hi David,

I had looked at that but it does not seem to address how to remove the latch. Am I missing something it that thread?

Yeah David, I say that one but, like I said it doesn't address the latch. I really don't wanna screw this up since I just got it. Maybe someone who has removed the latch on a Curve will be able to explain how it's done. Thanks for trying to point me in the right direction.

I have a broken latch as well. I pulled mine out, thinking I was removing it but broke it out. I believe there were 2 little hinges that were attached along the bottom edge of the latch that broke off. The spring had separated so I have superglued it to the latch so as not to have to deal with loosing it. It now just sits in place and holds the back cover in place but the bottom of the latch is now not flush with the rest. So I have to be careful not to hook it on my case. I don't believe it will be a problem to POP another latch back in those hinge holes. Go ahead and order another one as I will, and we'll see what happens. Or maybe Verizon can fix something like this??? This can't be too serious.

@diffused, Thanks for your reply. I have another one on order so hopefully it will come with some instructions. I was afraid of something breaking by trying to take it out without knowing how it's held in place as you found out. Thanks again.
