Default Blackberry Curve 8330...HELP!!! Buttons dont work!!

Please Login to Remove!

I have the Blackberry Curve 8330 and I'm going through Alltel.

All of a sudden my phone went black. I pushed keys, track ball, side buttons, etc and nothing turned the screen on. I then plugged the phone into the charger and the screen came on but only the track ball would work...nothing else. I could roll around anywhere on the screen but I couldnt select anything or push any other buttons.

I had originally thought I accidently locked the keypad when the phone was in my pocket...but I pushed the keys to unlock it and it didnt do anything.

I also have taken the battery out and put it back in and that didnt do anything either.

Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance

How was it in your pocket? In a sleeve? Bare?

What were you doing at the time? Was the device exposed to any moisture at all? Even a little bit? Such as having it in your pocket unprotected while you were sweating? Having it in a steamy bathroom? Rain? Snow? Wet hands? Wet hair?

When you pulled the battery, was it with the device turned on?

Give us more details.

It was bare in my pocket. No sleeve or anything.

It was just in the evening. Nothing strenuous or anything. I wasnt sweating, not near the bathroom, no wet hair or hands.

The device was turned on when I pulled the battery...and I've done that probably 5-10 times.

When I first pulled it out of my pocket the screen was froze on the call log screen. Since I couldnt do anything I pulled the battery and placed it back. From that point on I've had the issues ive discussed.

Thats about all I know.

I am going to the Alltel store I bought it from when I get off work this evening.

I would suggest reloading the phone OS (unless you've had it less than 30 days in which case I would recommend getting a replacement from Alltel).

I would also recommend not carrying the device bare in your pocket. Dirt and lint will eventually cause problems with your trackball and keyboard.

I went to Alltel last night and the guy looked at it for about 5 minutes. He took the battery out then put it back in and it still didnt work. He said your replacement will be delivered to you by Saturday. And he said to bring it in with my old phone and they will transfer my contacts over to the new one.

This is a pain in the ass but I guess I'll be getting a new phone.

Thanks anyway
