No issues with the update. My third party apps are snappier and more functional compared with .75

After running this for almost a week now... It seems to be running smoothly now.
I suppose my issue's were due to the outage last week.

We will see what happen this week.

Are still running the beta or have tried the alpha again. The alpha is running pretty good for me.

ver .160 is too buggy for me--- the crackling sounds on the
telephone are weird. Going back to .138 when I can find it.

Pull in the cdma file from 119 or 131 and keep the rest of 160. Best OS I've had so far once I did that. Instructions found earlier in this thread.

I've noticed the crackling in .160 during calls. I tried going hybrid with the CDMA off of .119, however, I can't stand the dreaded lag when picking up a call with anything < .160 (it's fixed with this ver). I've reloaded .160 - so far the crackling hasn't happened yet.

Any of you VZW users having RF issues yet?

You probably will the first time you update your PRL.

I'll try pulling the CDMA sometime this week, will the App Loader automatically see the change like normal?

I haven't done a "hybrid" OS before.

That seems to be a pretty common issue with this OS.

I've already downgraded back to .77, this OS is too buggy.
I am having the exact same problem and I am thinking about downgrading to .138.

Yes, it should recognize the new file. It will say you already have newer versions of the software installed and you need to click to allow the "downgrade" even though all it's downgrading is that one cdma file.

I have been on for a few days and my only complaint is that I am, very sporadically, experiencing the beeps during the call. It is not anywhere near annoying enough to bother downgrading. I will just put up with it until the next release.

Cool, thanks... I'm gonna have to do this since I get that high pitched noise during phone calls :(

It makes perfect sense.
Without even realizing that the Verizon 8330 i had was a MEID one, i installed this update without a problem and the phone is working perfectly fine. Is there something that isnt supposed to be working?

Well after posting that this update was perfect and no problems I started to have the crackling noise while on the phone . Last night I went through the process suggested in creating the Hybrid OS and changing the CDMA file and voila works perfect, no crackling sound. I did however have a problem with Calendar, which I doubt is related to the Hybrid OS. Instead of my calendar working with my default email addy it made a calander call Default....lol. As it turns out I Synced my Device Calendar with all my Outlook calendar. Deleted the Calendar on my device. Set my primary email as the default email. Then Synced the Device with all the Outlook calendar entries and everything is back to normal. Anyone else have that sort of situation just be patient and ask for help or search for help. There always is a solution to be found either here or the other reputable Blackberry message boards.

I still got a bit a chirping/buzzing on my phone calls, any other CDMA file recommendations?

I used .131 and .160 so far.

Better memory management, overall quickness of the device tends to improve.

That is what the discussion in this thread and the previous OS upgrade threads are all about. You'll need to review the user comments in these threads to determine.

Media Player issue in .160

Has anyone else noticed that all of the track numbers and song lengths are "0" for track and "0:00" for length?

This was not so in .138 and I have not changed any of the music files on the card.

I've went back the .77 radio/CDMA file and it works perfectly now.

I haven't noticed that Media Player issue with .160

It has been VERY in frequent for me, and I am a 1500 min a month user. Not even every day. Not sure what the cause is. I've been trying to pay attention to when it happens to see if there is a pattern.

I ended up downgrading to 4.5.0.131. The chirping was constantly happening for me.

Yea that chirping was horrible, using the CDMA file from the .77 release resolved that issue for me.

Don't use DM. Use Loader.exe which can be found in the same folder as the vendor.xml file.

How is everyone doing with GPS?

I have to say that I have had times when it is flaky... "searching for satellites" over and over. Then another time it works as expected.

Same thing with VZ Navigator. Works fine then suddenly you get a GPS alert for a while.

I don't use it enough to have me go backwards, but....

I was poking around trying to decide which hybrid to make. I decided to make this post for those of you who are wondering where to get the older files:

8330 ESN Version -

.66 - US Cellular
.77 - Verizon, Carolina West Wireless, Cellcom, NTELOS, Virgin Mobile Canada
.127 - Alltel, Bell Mobility, CloseCall, MTS-BWA, SaskTel
.131 - CBeyond, Sprint
.138 - Appalachian Wireless, Bluegrass Wireless
.160 - Telus

These are from the official sites. If you are looking for another version, BING!

(I couldn't help it, everyone always says Google)

VZW 9630 / BES 5.0.0 mr2 on Notes 8.0.1

9630 <- 8330 <- 8130 <- 8830 <- 8703e <- 7130e <- 7250

I just upgraded to this version yesterday and am getting the horrendous piercing blip or beep randomly while on calls. How often do they come out with new versions of the OS? is it worth changing back to the old system? I tried pulling the battery out and it didn't fix the problem...

Please read through this entire thread. There is a fix. Pull the cdma file from another OS version and the beep goes away.

I did read that but unfortunately it's Egyptian to me! How do I replace files? I'm just excited that I was able to follow the step by step instructions to change the OS.

If anyone has the extra time to type me up an idiot proof step by step guide I sure would appreciate it!

I did read that but unfortunately it's Egyptian to me! How do I replace files? I'm just excited that I was able to follow the step by step instructions to change the OS.

If anyone has the extra time to type me up an idiot proof step by step guide I sure would appreciate it!
The instructions on here are easy to follow. As an FYI, I chose the .77 file since I am a VZW customer and I am very happy with the results.

VZW 9630 / BES 5.0.0 mr2 on Notes 8.0.1

9630 <- 8330 <- 8130 <- 8830 <- 8703e <- 7130e <- 7250

Thanks I found the post with step by step instructions some terms confuse me but I'm going to see if I can chug through w/o breaking my phone. Wish me luck!

Gah! The beeping! This is what I get for trying to be fancy schmancy online. If I switch out the sound file to an older version and try to double click on the loader.exe thing it just cycles through and tells me nothing needs to be updated.

If I remove all BB OS files from my computer and download an older version to try and install an older version the same thing happens. It won't install anything on my phone.

On a good note the beeping is getting less frequent I think...
