Default OS: 8330 4.5.0.253/4.5.0.160 ESN Devices (Multilanguage) - 05-28-2009, 11:21 AM

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8330 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.253 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.253
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.160
* Software Platform: 3.4.0.41
* File name: 8330AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel253_PL3.4.0.41_A4.5.0.160_Tel us_Mobility.exe
* File size: 83.15MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download HERE

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8330:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...n-devices.html

How to determine if you have an ESN or MEID based device.
From the main menu, select Options, then select Status.
ESN devices - On the Status screen you will see ESN on the display
MEID devices – On the Status screen you will see MEID on the display.
NOTE – You cannot install ESN-based software on a MEID device, nor can you install MEID-based software on an ESN device. They are NOT interchangeable.

It's not your browser that is failing, it's RIM's servers that having problems for the past several weeks.

I downloaded and just installed to my PC.

The call timer issue was with .138. While you're on a call it does not show how long you've been on the call.

I'm installing it on a Sprint 8330 as I type this. I will let you know how things go.

I just finished the upgrade. Everything went fine except my Calendar didn't restore correctly. Good thing I made a backup first to restore it myself

My calendar didn't restore correctly either. I am activating the device on the BES again. I would advise anyone running the upgrade to create a manual backup prior to upgrading.

Same calendar restore issue here. The BES activation solved it, but it may be an issue for those not on BES if you don't backup prior to upgrading.

Lol, you all didn't believe me about this OS did you?

I posted it last night.

The calender always screws up when you upgrade these 4.5 builds.

I would imagine the reason he added that would be because not everybody knows that there are MEID based 8330s and ESN based 8330s.

It makes perfect sense.

What improvements are people seeing? So far, call timer is back. What else? Can't believe how the last two official releases for the 8330 were never out in the wild as a beta first. Our beta folks are slipping!

Never has happened to me before today. I have upgraded 4.5 builds twice without incident. Of course this one was easily fixed.

It happens to me everytime I upgrade or downgrade.

I have re-enter all entries.

Ditto! I've upgraded multiple devices to all sorts of different versions of 4.5 and never had any calendar restore issues. This build is the first to give me an issue.

Then you have a 8330m and this OS is for ESN versions so it will NOT work on your 8330m.

I get to where it is backing up Device date, and looks like it goes to 70% of the bottom bar done. The screen on th BB is black. The LED isn't lit.

Has the speakerphone issue been resolved? I'm still running 4.5.0.77, and don't necessarily see any need (for me) to upgrade unless the speakerphone thing is fixed. I haven't been paying much attention to recent upgrade info, so maybe it was fixed in a previous version...

I am giving it a try. I am on Verizon with a BES. I figure if it doesn't work, then I got an excuse not to answer my phone this weekend.

Will keep ya all updated.
