Exclamation 8310 Won't Turn On, Red Light

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a phone off eBay today and it won't turn on. The wall charger isn't the right charger for the phone so I can't charge it through that. I plugged it into the computer via USB and the LED turns red for about 15 seconds then nothing happens.

I had Desktop Manager 4.7 for some reason so I uninstalled it and installed 4.0 so I could update it to whatever one I needed. I have no clue what OS is on the phone because I just got it and I haven't been able to even turn it on yet.

I tried taking out the battery and all that crap and I have no clue what to do.

HELP!!!!

Was the phone advertised as broken? If it wasn't, your first step is to leave it alone and get your money back. You start messing with it and theres no telling what else could go wrong. Before anything, I say work it out with the seller, get your money back, then buy one that works.

Now, if it was advertised as broken, then what info did the seller give you about the phone?

Here's the page: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&it em=260414909531

"All of our used items are in good working condition and have been tested."
Yeah bull crap Fast Lane Wireless.

There's a 30 day warranty and they pay for shipping on return if it's DOA (defective on arrival).

Holy crap, speak of the devil. I had it plugged into my pc, waiting for me to figure out what to do and it lit up with a spinning hour glass.

Does that mean it's charging?

Okay I just went to eat then came back like 15 minutes later and now it's not working again... UGGHHH

Okay after another 5 minutes it started doing the spinning hour glass.
This is my first Blackberry, I have no clue what to do with this kinda stuff...

This phone sounds like it's got some kind of issue going on with it. The hourglass will be there when you reboot the phone, but a reboot should only take a couple of minutes or so. I say you get a replacement from these guys and have them send you a new one that works properly. I see no reason why you should have to try and fix this one when they have a 30 day warranty.

P.S. The link says item has been removed.

Oh. The hourglass stays on for about 30 seconds then the display shuts off and it won't turn on. It only turns on when I unplug it then plug it into the pc via USB. And after I plug it in it wait for about 2 minutes then turns to the hourglass thing.

I just got it today and I already sent to emails to the seller, I was just wondering if there was something I was just doing wrong. I don't know if I'll be able to get another phone. It says that they either fix it if they can, or they reimburse me. Either way it's really crappy service.

P.S. Oh that's because I bought it from there. I guess it only shows it to me since I am the buyer.

If that's the case, I would just get my money back and go to another seller. Maybe even do a local search on Craigslist, you can usually find them for a decent price.

I sell BlackBerry phones on eBay myself, but only dealing with the Storm at the moment. Some times the phones get dropped pretty hard during shipping and lord knows what happens to them at that point.

Okay. Well I originally searched on Craigslist and found 2 or 3 offers but two of them haven't responded in 2 weeks and the other couldn't get the phone for such a long time I just gave up.

I was retarded though.. I thought by getting the 8320 with WiFi, I wouldn't have to pay for an data plan when I was in a WiFi hotspot. And I met some dude who was selling an 8310 (what I ended up getting anyway) and it worked fine but I didn't get it since it didn't have WiFi. lol yes I know I'm retarded.

So there's pretty much nothing I can do to fix this myself? Like common issues for this problem that are easily fixable?

If I HAD to try and fix this phone, I would do a fresh wipe/install on it and see where I can go from there. But like I said, if you start messing with this thing before you try to return it, the seller can say you tampered with the phone and no refund you the money.

No problem, and good luck finding another one.

P.S. If you are going to buy a phone to use with a carrier and NO data plan, you may also want to look in to an HTC of some sort. They all just about have WifI with a better browser then the BlackBerry (hopefully I am not about to get flamed for saying this).

Okay, the phone works now.
I guess the battery was just dead. I realized that my old RAZR chargers had the same Mini-USB port so I used that charger and after like 20 minutes my phone just turned on. It was sitting at the spinning hour glass like the whole time before that.

My only problem now is that my computer won't recognize that my phone is connected :(

I plug the usb cord into my phone and the little plug icon next to the battery shows up for like 5 seconds then it goes away.
I guess I should post a new thread to get this resolved

Your not retarded. I have a 8320. I have a data plan but when i got it I did not have it. You can still search for WIFI signals and if they are open you can use them or if you have a secured WIFI you can use it also. I also have a 8120 without a data plan and browse the net all the time.
