Default That Red blinking light, doesn't always blink when it should?

Please Login to Remove!

I have 1 mail account on my BB. For that account, in my NORMAL profile (which is always the one enabled) I have LED Blinking set for new Email messages both in and out of holster.

So I would expect that whenever the mailbox icon indicates "new" messages, that the LED would blink.

This is true, but not always.

One case is when I turn the unit on, after new messages download, the red light sometimes isn't blinking.

After it's on for a while, sometimes I get new messages and find out only when I look.

It seems that putting the unit in STANDBY might disable setting the red led? I but again, not always.

The only things I do to the BBerry to reduce power are
1) standby (pressing mute key)
2) put in holster with magnet.

Is the algorithm for the blinking light somehow more complicated, or is there a setting I'm missing?

Note - I recently RMA'ed my curve for another reason, and saw this behavior on both units.

any ideas?

thanks
/j

Odd behavior. You need to see what else is going on during those occasions in which it does not blink. I've never had this problem before.

Are you using any 3rd party apps that could affect it? I have PeekAWho, which has options for changing the LED notifications. When I used that, it screwed up the pattern of the LED blinking, so I turned the option off.

I timed the red LED after getting a new email a few times, without opening the email. It blinked red for 10 minutes, then went back to green.
