Yet another thread...

Im trying to figure out why there is a delay from the time that an email is sent from a sender to my phone. When I send a test message to myself I see it instantly in my outlook inbox on the computer, but the message will come through around five minutes later on my phone. I dont have any filters on, and my account is validated. Any ideas?

I kinda have this problem but it is the other way around. I seem to get all the forwards instantly from everything except when I am testing it out myself. I have had my gmail account up on the comp and I have watched it pop up and tell me I have new message on my gmail and then not one second later I get it on my blackberry(blackberry email). Now when I send myself something just to test it, it takes forever. Anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Weird huh

Typically incoming email via BIS arrives every 15 minutes or less. RIM polls your email servers every 15 mins and pushes mail that is found to your device. If mail was found, it will repoll in 15 mins, pushing what it finds. This cycle continues until nothing is found at which time the poll reverts to 15 mins.

Some services such as gmail have agreements with RIM that allow for almost near real time delivery. If you feel the need to get it in a hurry, then look into that route.

Outgoing should be sent in near real time. When it gets to your server could be quickly or it could take a few minutes depending on the ISP and your email route and setup. No real way to know.
