Default Big Problem I Believe

ok... so my curve was working perfectly fine last night everything was working. I turned my phone off to conserve battery because i was at a friends house with no charger. When I woke up this morning, I tried to check my messages becuase I saw that I had two new ones. When trying to do this the phone only started typing in "#" with a screen popped up making it look like i was dialing numbers to make a phone call, but instead of numbers or going back it would only type "#". After taking the battery out and putting it back in numerous times and getting the same result, my phone ended up just turning to a black screen, only to be illuminated when I plug my phone into my charger. When I plug it in the screen is on again but I still cannot go into my messages or anything, its almost as if it is frozen yet i can scroll across my bottom bar on the main screen. I cannot click on anything though. After about 15 seconds though the screen turn right back to the black screen I had before. Can someone help me please... thanks in advance
