Angry Updated OS, now phone is S-L-O-W

Please Login to Remove!

I updated to 4.5.0.160 (DM 4.7) and ever since then, my phone has slowed down considerably!! When I try to do anything, there's a lag time. I notice it most with SMS. When I press the trackball to open a message, the phone seems to freeze for about 10 seconds before it does anything. When I get ready to send using either the trackball or the menu button, again there's that 10 second freeze. This same thing happens with email (BIS) also. I have done a soft reset as well as pulled the battery several times and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I have pulled the battery and not opened any other apps, but I get the same result.

Suggestions?

I noticed it initially but it got better for me after a battery pull. Have you given any thought to reverting back to an older OS or did you update for a specific reason?

I didn't update for any specific reason. I updated from 4.5.0.138 I believe.. It was a 4.5 OS so it shouldn't be too big a deal...I was just womndering if anybody else was having the same issue.

I've noticed it as well. Sometimes the device hangs for about 5 minutes, then comes back on it's own. Something changed with the update from .138 to .160. Thankfully, my BB does a reset nightly using QuickPull.

I haven't done a scheduled Quick Pull. I just sporadically do it in hopes of speeding up the phone. I'll try that tonight! Thanks

That's only 15 MB is that after a battery pull?

What your Curve starts slowing down, check the file free again.

The scheduled quick pull seems to have fixed the issue for now but if it happens again, I'll let you know. Thanks all : )

Also, make sure you're closing out of applications when you're done with them by pressing the Menu Key and selecting Close/Exit. Running too many apps in the background can cause the device to run slow, even if there's a good amount of memory.

Dumb question.. So instead of clicking on the WAP link in my email, I should close the email and then go to the WAP app instead? I do a lot of switching from emails to texts and I usually just press the red "end" button to close things...am I the root of the problem??

The red End Call key just moves the applications to the background and they continue running. If your browser is on a page that refreshes often, such as a weather site, it could cause issues. Press Alt + Esc (back key) and list what's showing there. It will always show Messages, Browser, Home, Call Log, BB Messenger.
