I am typing in Opera where you enter the URL and the SYM key is not working. I see it should by SYM T but all i get is a black box?
Is there any way to make Opera my default browser if I were to email myself the link?

No, can't make opera the default browser.
Just type the ~ (called the tilde character) in a blank email, copy the character then paste it in the proper place when needed.
