Default Suddenly, outgoing BIS emails delayed, or not delivered

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8330 Curve, using VZW. I have BES on it, as well as two BIS email accounts (one is Hotmail, the other is a smaller provider called Nelix). They all worked fine, until...

I noticed Friday or Saturday, I stopped receiving emails from Hotmail, which is suspicious because I usually get a few a day. Then I stopped getting them on the Nelix account. I tried sending an email from the Nelix account on the BB, to a number of people. Some people never got it, others got it many hours after I sent it.

BES continues to work fine. Its the two BIS accounts, both, that seem to suddenly have major issues.

Anyone ever encounter this? I did a search on these forums and didn't find a good match.

Thanks!

Thanks, I'll try that. But the emails, mostly, do eventually arrive - just very late.

This just gets weirder.

I did the hard reboot (had tried that already, but did it again just in case). I then did the register thing.

I try to go to the email setup page to send service books (step 3), and now I cannot even get to that page (either by clicking Email Setup icon OR by typing it into the browser). I get a message: "a communication failure occurred with the selected provisioning server...".

Very strange. I guess I'll be calling Verizon.

Yes, you should.

Do you have 1XEV in the device?

If this is a widespread VZW thing, maybe I should have put this in some other forum, like network outages or something. Sounds like its not a problem with the phone, its VZW having issues.

There is a great server overload currently with users attempting to revalidate their accounts with msn, live and hotmail. There was a recent windows live server update which has required ALL of those users to validate again, and that has cause some overload of the BIS sites.

Users are reporting that it is working, just slow. Try again.

This is beyond "slow." I haven't received a single email in 3 days on the phone (but can send email reliably).

Yesterday, I tried several times to send service books using email setup on the phone. I got stopped at the "unable to connect to the selected provisioning server" message. Once I did get past this, and after I sent the service books, I received a message telling me that I needed to change an email setting in MS Outlook to "leave messages on the server." Once this was done, my phone's email behavior returned to normal.

Finally got through to the email settings server, sent the service books, and that seems to have solved the issue.

And now its happening again - no emails since Saturday, specifically with Hotmail this time. I guess I have to do this process again. Ridiculous.

IMO, Hotmail is horrible, anyway. It's ridiculous that Microsoft requires this validation every 90 days.

In your case, every 48 hours? wow.
