Default OS: 8310 4.5.0.257/4.5.0.163 (Multilanguage) - 06-12-2009, 04:34 PM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.257 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.257
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.163
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.92
* File name: 8310M_PBr4.5.0_rel257_PL2.7.0.92_A4.5.0.163_O2_UK. exe
* File size: 89.9MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...05D7C424EBAE5F

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...eastasian.html

The biggest improvement I've seen is memory utilization (which I first saw with the rogue copy of 4.5.0.153).

I've seen an extra 5MB of memory available on my device since upgrading. It appears memory leaks must have been plugged as well, since I haven't seen the downward spiral of available memory over a period of days like I used to...

I had a significant available memory drop from .124 (about 2 MB) but you are right. The memory does not seem to drop as rapidly as I was experiencing with .99 or .124

Not sure where the other 4.5 posts went, but I have 4.5.0.110 and although I like the ability to have a video camera now, why does it only "fill up" about 3/4 of the screen, even with the settings on "fullscreen"? It's like the 240x180 setting doesn't fill it up? There is a black box, or frame all the way around the screen when you play it back, even without the stop and play buttons, etc? Weird.

Confirmed. Is it possible they pulled the stickied version for some reason?

I am very curios too. I saw in another forum that when some users running .153 (I think that was the OS number) tried to load .163 the computer indicated they already had a higher OS running?

I lost all of my custom profiles when I upgraded to .163

This could be the reason they pulled it.

This version is more recent than the one I have, but it isn't working for me. Is it working for anyone else?

MAGPIE - I d/l and installed the .163 they had posted there on Friday.

That version was only up for a few days then it was replaced with this .174 within the last day or two?

I have not messed with .174. Hopefully someone will have some conclusive info as to what the deal is because I am at a loss now?

If I had to guess why they pulled .163 I would say it might be because it leaks about 5 meg a day. At least it does for me. Still though, I will stay with it and just reboot every couple of days. At least until something else comes along.

Angry Another wonderful software "upgrade"!!! - 06-27-2009, 08:25 PM

Well, I upgraded my 8310 with the new 4.5 upgrade, attempted to set up my phone the way it was and it locked up. I don't mean just a little lockup, a full blown, you can't do anything lockup. All it says on the screen (in VERY small print) is APP Error 523 and below it "reset".
Press the trackball to "reset" and guess what? It comes up with that message again.
I can do nothing, including pulling the battery to get my phone working.

Any suggestions?

I haven't noticed any difference with 163. But I haven't had any problems either and I've been running it for almost 2 weeks now.

Well - I am running the .163 that was originally posted and it is very stable and durable on my phone.

I am running the new Uber - the new Viigo and the new WeatherBug with minimal battery or memory loss compared to previous OS and apps...

Uptime 18 hours

Battery at 58%

Memory at 8.8 MB

Much - Much better...

Default So far... - 07-01-2009, 10:11 AM

I too also d/l the .163 ver. OS and so far it is stable. Been running for almost a whole 24 hrs. and no problems yet. I didn't really see any difference..well my camera app. actually loads a SLIGHT bit faster, but thats about it. I was hoping with this new OS things would speed up a bit, but may OS 5.0 will do that better??

it seems that this is not a the most updated version for 8310. I still are working with OS.4.5.0.124 and it is realised that this version is the same with one posting here. if any, please show the most updated version.

Well looks like Vodafone UK released this same exact OS. You can download it here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...05D7C424EBAE5F

Hi there. I am a bit new to upgrades on my BB, and Ive only had it for a few months now. I would REALLY like to upgrade my OS, and my current OS is 4.2.2.181

I am a bit confused reading through this thread, as to which link I should download from, and which will work the best. I also saw that someone posted about being able to have a video camera after upgrading... how does that work? I would LOVE to have video camera availablity on my phone! thank you!!

i installed the .163 about 3 days ago. so far so good. i'm hoping the kinks from the previous version that i installed (indosat .124) will be gone.
P.S. all 4.5 versions have a video camera now.

I have a live CrackBerry and I ain’t afraid to use it.
