Red face 4320 will not update from 4.2 to 4.5

Please Login to Remove!

I bought an unlocked 4320 BB. When I try to update my device from 4.2 to 4.5 I get a message saying that it is the latest software, which is not. I have downloaded already the 4.5 software but I can not apply it. I need help.

4320?

Did you delete the vendor.xml file after you downloaded and installed the 4.5 OS on your PC?

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Did you install the 8320 software into the PC first before opening desktop manager to install to device?

Did you remove the vendor.xml file when you downloaded 4.5 to your PC?

He meant 8320 probably, based upon his profile.

I tried all options. I keep getting: No software update is required for your device. When I try to load it directly I get: No additional applications designed for your device were found. After I took the battery out and put it back in, all I get is a round battery figure with a red line accross it. Now it will not even start.

Friends: I finally got my BB to startup again but there is no way by which I can upgrade it from 4.2 to 4.5. Any further help?

Usually when someone cannot update the OS they've been missing one crucial step somewhere along the way. Also, if you're sure you have deleted the vendor.xml file, check this out: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-xml-file.html

Forget DM completely and try loader.exe instead.

2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Be sure to follow instructions in the link posted both by me and by Rambo47 to look for other instances of vendor.xml or you will continue to be unsuccessful.
