I just got my Curve on Friday. I can't seem to text (SMS or MMS) to friends outside the Alltel network. Is there something I'm missing?

Also, I get some text messages with little .gif pictures or animated pictures but can't seem to see the pictures? Does this have to do with SMS/MMS settings?

Seems if I don't put a subject in the header they get the message just fine. Interesting. However, I can't seem to receive their .gif preloaded pics if they send it in a message. Are there some settings I am missing?

If your sms doesn't work to other carriers, more than likely, your carrier has set something wrong.

Are you still on "alltel" or are you switching to "verizon"

There MAY be an issue with the phone switchover. Idk

Still on Alltel--I think it will switch to Verizon after July 12th, but that may be just the billing. Still can't receive .gif or "smilies" in text messages. Going back to the Alltel store today. Thanks

You will not receive images in SMS messages. SMS = Short Messaging Service. This is text only.

MMS = Multimedia Messaging Service, this is text, video, images, etc.
