So I dropped my 8300 in the toilet. I snatched it right out, pulled the battery, placed it in the sun, and then into a bowl of rice for a week. All appears to work.
Thing is the BB can charge for 4 days straight, the battery life is full and I can use it for texting for a hour or two. As soon as I make a call it will just turn off and not turn back on. It will go back on when I plug it back up to a charger and work as normal while plugged in. I can unplug it then after 15 minutes of charging and the batttery life bar is empty red.
The curve works perfectly while its plugged in. Texts and calls. If its left to charge for hours it will work for texts for a few hours but will randomly shut off and will not turn back on. If its charger for hours and I un plug it and try to make a call it will connect to the number and then just turn off and refuse to turn back on.
Occasionally if it has turned off and has been sitting un-plugged for a couple hours I can turn it on and it will start to boot up but then will just die again.
Also, USB data transfers go seamless. Connects to PC and stays powered on the whole time.
Does this sound like a ruined battery to you guys? I went on Amazon.com and picked up a new OEM battery for $7.62, kingston 8gig microsd card for $11, and a rubber skin for $5. They should be here in a few days.
I leave for Central America July 7th and was planning to us my curve as a mp3 and video player. Im really hoping a new battery will solve my problem, someone give me good news here
