Has anybody seen this problem or know what is going on? I haven't seen it before in the forums.

My blackberry 8310 Curve will not charge on an OEM AC adapter. It charges fine on USB or the DC adapter (i.e. car charger).

I bought a new OEM AC adapter and I still have the same problem.

The symptom is that the charging icon first appears (or seems to). After some short time, it starts intermittently flashing instead of showing the charging symbol. It then seems to discharge my battery more than it charges it.

I'm thinking there may be a phone problem. Since charging works via other methods, and my curve is only about 14 months old, I don't think it is the battery. I also don't think it is the AC charger since I just bought a replacement and that hasn't helped.

Any help is appreciated.

Could it be be the wrong charger for your device? The port is obviously working. Was the wall charger plugged int to different plugs to make sure it wasn't that particular plug?

Thanks, but wasn't the wrong charger. I only have blackberry OEM AC chargers (two of them).

Followup:

I think the problem is that when I charge on an AC adapter the screen light does not go out. My guess is that the screen light draws more current than the AC charger supplies, so there is a gradual drain.

Has anybody seen this?

So, the question now becomes: Why doesn't the screen light go out when charging on AC charger, but it does when on USB?

Of course alterning the timeout for the screen to turn itself off has no affect.
