Default Newbie with Missing Desktop Icons - 07-03-2009, 12:37 PM

So a couple weeks ago I knew I could sleep in, so I put my phone to silent. The next morning I woke up and went to set it back to a normal volume level and the icon is gone! So is the options icon.

My friendly Verizion people said to do a back up and a "hard reset" because pulling the battery didn't work. I'd love to at least do the back up, but my laptop CDrom drive isn't working right now. So I can't load the software from the nifty CD that they gave me.

Really the phone is a month old and shouldn't have this kind of problem.

I can't tell you the OS of the phone because....well the options icon is gone too. I just read about the new OS, which sounds like a cure for me, but I can't back the phone up and I really don't want to loose all my callender data.

Sorry for the long post guys and gals, but I like to give the details.

HELP!?

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Try menu - show all.

If not there, go to phone-options-general-dial from home screen - no

Then go back to home screen and click "o"

I've done the show all. I went to the extent of unhiding everything.

I can't go to options. It's GONE.

Click O? I hit the O key and held it, it asked if I wanted to assign a "speed dial."

You went through your phone options? Dial from home screen, no?

If so, you cam always sync your calendar items or outlook before you reinstall your OS

I can't get TO my phone options! That Icon is gone as well.

I can dial out and text fine. Nothing else seems to be "different" other than I can't change my ringer back and I can't change any of my options.

I can't sync anything without the software. I can't put the software on my computer because the CD Drive is broken. If someone knows where the software is on this forum or another site, then I'll just download it and then I can back everything up.

So, when I'm at my home screen, I make it so I can see ALL the icons. From there the Profiles and Options icons are GONE! Not to be found. The dood at Verizion spent an HOUR trying to find them!

Don't HOLD the "O" key. Just press it once lightly. Be sure that you have dialing from the Home Screen set to Off.

Also, check in all your folders including Documents to Go for the "missing" icons.

From your home page, click on the Documents to Go icon. Click on the Profiles icon, move it onto the "Up" icon within the Documents to Go folder, and click. The Profiles icon should be moved upward back to your home page. Repeat this for your Options icon.
