Default updating software

This seems to me like a dumb question, so I assume it probably is. Since my 8330m updated to, my performance hasn't be as good. I've read things on here that might and probably do contribute to that. My question is, from what I've seen, other carriers offer more recent updates. What if any harmful things could I do to my phone, as long as I'm getting my update from another cdma carrier?

In searching the blackberry site, I was hoping that I would be able to find a "official" software version, instead I was directed towards selecting my carrier.

Any help with this topic would be appreciated.

Wirelessly posted

The updates that are posted in each specific BlackBerry model form will work on that BlackBerry model irrespective of the carrier.

If you follow the instructions outlined in those posts, then you shouldn't have any issues, and you won't do any damage to your phone, just download the OS and follow the instructions.
