I looked at my phone, and it looks normal, has the video camera now, shows as the 4.5 os in th about section of options, BUT - my address are ALL GONE, and where my signal meter is it shows a tower and says OFF. the loader has not yet finished....what do I do? How do I fix it?? And what do I do if it tells me again that it cant connect to my phone? it said I may need to put a password in, but I have not put any passwords IN my phone..... PLEASE tell me I didnt screw up my phone......

Did you disconnect your device? If not, let it go until it completes. As for the OFF, go into manage connections and place a check mark next to Mobile Network. Also, did you backup your data? If so, you could restore it.

If not, the upgrade process normally creates one for you, it should restore your data when it finishes loading. If not search your PC for a .ipd file and you can restore your data.

Again, do NOT disconnect the device when it is upgrading.

No, I havnt disconnected the device.... And no.... I didnt backup my data.... I guess I didnt realize that it would all disappear....lol This is the first time I have ever tried to do this, so I didnt really know what to expect. What do I do though, if it tells me again that it cant connect to the device? it waited till the very end of that part of the loader setup to tell me it was un able to connect... and right now, its about 1/2 way through..... THANK YOU for the help!! OH - and I did get my signal back thanks to the manage connections... I would have NEVER thought of that....lol

Are you connected to a USB hub, or a USB extension cable? You always want to connect to a USB port on the rear of your PC when upgrading your OS. A lot of the time you get that error that the device cannot reconnect when not plugged into a rear USB port.

Search your PC for a .ipd file. The upgrade should have created a LoaderBackup(2009-07-13).ipd file. That should have your data.

And welcome to the forums.

Its connected through the USB cable it came with, but of course, I connected it to one of the USB ports toward the front of my laptop. How do I fix it now? Do I unplug, and plug it into a different port if I get the error again? Thank you!

If you get the error again, I would try rebooting the device and the laptop, try another USB port and then follow the steps again.

Any luck on the .ipd file?

You're welcome.

It could be in your documents. Just do a search. Start Menu > Search > For Files and Folders > For Files and Folders > All or Part of the File Name = *.ipd

Just be patient

Good deal . Let the upgrade finish and then if you still don't have your data, do a restore with that file.

Ok. .Great!! Thank you!! You've been a HUGE help!! One more question - since my phone is on, even though its still upgrading.... Can I make calls on it as long as I dont disconnect it, or should I just leave it alone?

I've personally never seen it show the homescreen while the device upgrades. It is usually on a white screen showing a PC connected to the device. Where is the upgrade at currently?

Personally, I'd leave it alone. Better safe than sorry.

the home screen is showing, I can view anything on it, which is how I knew my contacts were gone, and that the connection was off.... the upgrade is at the very end of waiting for initialization, and just gave me the error again... I hit cancel, and this came up :

Warnings were encountered during the loading process:

Application data could not be restored to the device. The backup data file has been saved to "C:\Users\Mom\Documents\LoaderBackup-(2009-07-13).ipd". You can use the Desktop Manager Backup/Restore tool to restore this information.

Now what? is it done, and fine? or do I start again? it said it was successful...... but I couldnt get that part copied... it was at the very top of the box....

What OS does the device show in Options > About?

Something doesn't seem right about the install, however if you're back on the homescreen it is a somewhat good sign.

I would reboot the device, PC and try a different USB port and reload the OS again if it were me.

You may be able to get away with just restoring your data.

Well, I DID see it with the white screen a couple times, and I saw it re boot itself a couple times as well. SO far it seems everything is working correctly.... the video camera is there, a call just came through, I re booted it, and it verified security and said all tests passed... and NOW, Im restoring the data.....I'll check the OS ina few, after the restore is finished.
