Default Music playback problem - hardware or software?

Every so often (happens once every 10 - 30 minutes), while I'm listening to MP3 files on my 8330 with headphones, the music will come through the external speaker instead of the headphones for about 3 seconds. It's never for longer than that, and it always goes right back into the headphones after.

I've tried using different headphones. Same problem. I've tried turning my headphone jack to different angles. Same problem. I've tried turning off all network connectivity on my phone while I listen to music. Same problem.

I can't tell whether this is a hardware problem, or whether there's something running in the background on my phone (Google Sync, maybe?) that's somehow interfering with music playback.

Has anyone else had/solved this problem? Educated opinions on the likeliest cause?

I'm under warranty/insurance, and I can trade it in if I must, but I'd rather keep my current unit if I can.
