Default Compose SMS - skip address input

Please Login to Remove!

hello BBForums.

I have numerous staff using the Telus 8830 Curve. One user asked me today if she's able to bypass the address selection screen after selecting, Compose SMS.

With my Storm I am not forced into the Address Book after selecting Compose SMS. Instead you can see the To: fields and the message field.

Any way of bypassing the Address Book and going directly to the message composition with this phone?

Thanks.

Your going to have to select someone to send it too eventually though right? I don't understand the difference in when you select the receiver of the message. This is just me. Find out what she's actually trying to accomplish and I bet there is an easier way to do it.

yes, eventually an address will have to be picked. the EU would prefer to write the message first before picking the address and has seen the storm and tours working this way.

Sometimes I like to compose my emails & sms messages before entering the address, too ... just so that I don't accidentally hit "send" before I'm ready or before I've had a chance to proof-read the final version for edits.

I don't know of a way to start an SMS with the 8830 without selecting and address first, but I've come up with a work-around solution ... I've added my own contact info to my address book ... and I select my own address when I start to compose an SMS ... then I change the address to the intended recipient when I'm ready to send.

Have them purchase a Storm or Tour.

I haven't seen a setting for this on the 8830 or the 8330.

I don't think this is a setting.

Just type a single character into the "address" field and you can go on to the message and add/change the address later.

Here's something that I do sometimes. I type out my message in the notepad. Some of my messages are kind of lengthy and most the time I don't have time to completely type my message. Also this way I can proof it or go back later till I'm actually ready to send it. When I am finally ready I just cut and past it. Plus it leaves your message box clutter free.
