Nifty little thing.

Same here. Another benefit of this is if you ever have issues with your USB port, you can still charge the device with the cradle.

I'd say yes. YMMV. Worth is always a subjective thing. I'm sure plenty of people don't see the point in the charging pod.

If you have some more specific questions about it to help you determine if it's worth it to you we'd be happy to answer them.

That looks like a handy gadget. I plug my wall charger into the side USB port then CAREFULLY lean it on it's side against my alarm clock to charge overnight. That way I can see it if I get a sudden urge to SMS or email someone. This looks like a much more elegant solution since it's always flopping on it's face!

In theory, yes. I just got a charging pod yesterday and I get an error message: "USB charging current is not sufficient. Verify that your handheld is connected to a USB charging source and that the proper USB driver is installed". Not sure what the issue is since the same power cord that I would connect directly to my BB is the same that is plugged into the docking pod.

EDIT: From looking elsewhere in the forum, my issue may be related to the fact that I'm running a beta version of desktop software.

Are you running 5.0 on your 8330?

If so, I had the same message when using the charging pod with 5.0. I got the message, but it would still charge. Since then, I've went back to 4.5 for other reasons.

The charging pod is a great accessory. It reduces the use of the USB connector which seems to be one of the most common hardware items to fail. Also you can just grab the phone off the pod, check email, answer a call or whatever, and put it right back down. You'll always know where your phone is on the desk and it's easy to see the indicator light for new emails since it's standing up.

With the cable, you have to decide whether to pull the cable or try using the phone with it without stressing the connector. If you're outside the year warranty on the phone, I think it's a prudent investment on top of just being a convenient charger.

When I had my Curve, I used it every day at my desk.
I loved it.
I now have a cradle for my Storm 2
