Default Issue with 8320 restarting randomly after OS 4.5 upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

i am new here and to the world of blackberrys....i have an unlocked t-mobile 8320 and have been facing restarting problems after upgrading the OS to 4.5.xx...i have tried many different 4.5s but none are any good...i researched online and all i get is year old posts which go on and on about memory card but for me it doesnt matter if the mem card is present or not...it still restarts...and my battery life is $hit...barely 5hr standby...so i had to go back to 4.2 which is working pretty stable..

i did find a thread which said something about issues with wifi...which made a little sense as i started noticing a pattern with it...most likely it restarts in areas with known wifi spots...not sure if this is relative in my case...

please help!!

Which versions of 4.5 have you tried? The older ones were in fact not all that great.

If it is due to being near wifi networks you have already set up, it could be an issue with the routers and BB conflicting. Way back on an early version of 4.2 it not only would reboot my phone, but at times the router would reboot.

I am not sure which country you are in, but perhaps the routers available there are of a brand or specification that is causing problems. In the US, there do not seem to be issues as there were with 4.2 and early versions of 4.5.

I should also mention draft 802.11n spec routers, as opposed to 802.11g routers, used to be a problem. If draft 802.11n routers are what you are connecting to, perhaps that is an issue. It is a draft standard still so it is implemented differently by different brands. Other routers that tried to increase throughput through proprietary methods on 802.11g also used to cause problems.

Remove the media card and see if it still works. If it does (dont restart anymore), then think of what are the files u placed in the media card before the problems happened. remove those files from the media card. It should be fine after that. If not, back up all your files and reformat the media card via the blackberry then put the files back slowly.

Oh yes. i had the problem last week. But the above steps fixed it. OS: 4.5.0.81
