Question stupid question sorry...

im trying to update my phone and its asking for my address and stuff and im just wondering why, i dont have to pay for an update do I?

You dont have to pay for an update. Not quite sure why they ask for address but maybe just for some sort of record keeping?

If you feel uncomfortable giving it out, then just enter a fake one.

I assume you are doing this from your carrier or BlackBerry's website. Either is safe. If you dont feel safe giving out your address I dont see what's wrong with giving a fake one?

im doing it on blackberries site i just thought it was weird to ask and was not sure that i was going to get billed or something, i dont really have any reason not to give my real one as long as i dont have to pay lol

Ah yes I remember having to do the same on the BlackBerry site. Yeah dont know why they ask for address. Not like they send you freebies or new devices =)

ok thanks for the help, im about to update this thing but im scared to death im gonna screw it up and not have a phone any more... i followed the instructuions on this website i just downloaded the file i deleted the thing that said vendor and now i just have to click the other thing but man this is scary i dont know that i can make my self do it lol

Well as others have said on this forum. If there's nothing wrong with your current device, you should just keep what works. What OS are you running now?

4.3 now, but i wanted to be able to play youtube videos but i guess its not that big of a deal lol... when you update do you loose all your numbers and blackberry messenger contacts because if so then its not worth it at all

Hey I'm still rocking OS 4.2, though I do like some of the new features in OS4.5. When you go through the upgrade process, desktop manager should backup everything before it continues with the installation of the new OS. But to be doubly safe you could do a backup yourself first.

lol nice, i just backed it up but i think i might have talked my self out of it... i have to take it up to my carrier any way in the next cupple days i think the speaker used during calls might have blown, not the one on the outside that plays music and stuff but the other one
