Default Fried 8310

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all. I recently put my phone on a friends charger and managed to instantly fry my BB 8310. It won't turn on at all and if I were to leave the battery in, the phone and battery get really hot.
I have since purchased a new phone but would really like to get my contact list and documents of the fried phone. I don't want to pay a repair tech $50 just to tell me its hopeless.

Any advice would be appreciated.

(p.s. I bought a new iphone 3g S and it is very cool but I am finding that my BB was far more useful and user-friendly)

If you backed up your BB before it died, you can restore from the backup.

Hi daphne, I did back it up on BB Device Manager (unless I somehow managed to delete the files off my comp). Can I retrieve the information from Device Manager without having another BB to refresh?

Hi akosnitzky, AT&T will not insure iPhones and even if my BB was insured, having a new BB would not solve my problem of extracting info from the old BB.

Have you tried using a new battery? It sounds obvious but we get a lot of customers that when they replace the battery, it resolves the issue.

Also - did you by any chance back up any data on the sim card? If you ever transferred the info from another Blackberry in the past you may have stored some of your info on your sim card.

Hope you get your phone up and running again.

Yes, you can restore data from your backup to the new device with Desktop Manager.
