Default Mouse Cursor Jumping During Sync

Please Login to Remove!

Hope someone can help me with this longstanding problem with my 8310.

I connect the phone to my laptop via USB. After connecting for some time (maybe 5mins), the mouse cursor jumps wildly around the screen. It even "double-clicks" randomly. This happens regardless if the synchonization is ongoing....and also happens regardless if the Blackberry Desktop Manager is on.

The mouse stops moving wildly after the phone is disconnected from USB. I've not tried if the same problem occurs with a Bluetooth connection.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am using a laptop with Windows XP...nothing special except that it has a SSD drive.

Are you using a USB mouse at all? To me it sounds that the BlackBerry is creating a slight USB surge. If the mouse is receiving just a little less power than it requires it would result in this.

A solution would be to sync using a powered USB hub (available on the web) or to sync via Bluetooth instead of USB.

Thanks for the advice.

The Blackberry USB cable is plugged into a USB hub which has an external power source. I found that the problem occurs when I use the hub and even when I connect directly to the laptop.

Ok...will try Bluetooth as a workaround assuming no one else has further advice on the matter.

You could try updating your computer's usb drivers.
To me it no longer sounds like a power issue, it instead sounds like a data conflict.
Are you using the touchpad or an external mouse?
If it is an internal mouse It may affect the mouse as it may be on an internal usb bus. Does it affect any of your other devices?

Thanks again for the advice.

I am using the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 with an external Microsoft Mouse along with the Touchpad / Trackpoint activated.

- I tried looking for updated drivers for my USB controller as well as my touchpad / trackpoint....couldn't find any updated drivers

- My USB controllers are from Intel's ICH8 Family

- None of my other devices are affected....I do have an external harddisk and other devices on the USB hub. But then again, the problem happens even when I'm not connected to the hub

- Application-wise, I do have ZoneAlarm Pro and ESET NOD32 running

- Tried Bluetooth connection yesterday. It worked without a hitch...although, I would prefer to revert to USB

If you have the usb mouse unplugged and then you sync the BlackBerry via usb does it not cause the problem?

My thinking is that if you can sync without it doing this then you could make do by syncing without the usb mouse plugged in if you prefer using usb.

One more question; have you tried different mice to see if that makes a difference?

Yes, problem occurs even without the external mouse attached. In all cases, the problem starts after the Blakcberry is connected to the laptop for around 3-5mins. It won't occur immediately upon connection

The only reason I can think of causing this now would be that the touchpad is on an internal usb header which is conflicting. There is no workaround for this.

It looks like bluetooth is your most viable sync option.

Do you have a BlackBerry data plan? If so you could contact your service provider and query periodical wireless sync.

Thanks for the advice! Yes, it looks like Bluetooth is the best option at the moment.

I am on BIS and I do have a data plan....however, I don't think wireless sync is possible in this case.

Thanks again for your help....
