Question What version is compatible with Windows Vista?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I have a Blackberry 8310 Curve and have version 4.2.2.170 (don't laugh not a power user like some of you lol) installed. I've just got a new laptop with Windows Vista 64-bit OS. Can someone point me in the direction of the latest version for both desktop and the Blackberry? Any help would be appreciated. Also, what happens when Windows 7 comes out?

Thanks

You can check here about system requirements for Desktop software:

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Software at BlackBerry.com

Device software:
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Device Software

Not the exact links, but should be able to find what you need by looking around.

I'm sure RIM is in the process of making their software compatible with Windows 7. A few people have posted here about using Windows 7 -- can find the threads with a search.

I have a 32 bit laptop with vista basic and a 64 bit laptop with vista home premium. The CD that came with my BB hung like CRAZY on the 32 bit and still isn't installing yet installed like an absolute dream on the 64 bit...

I installed DM from my 8330 disk to my 32-bit Vista Premium and it works fine. Matter of fact my XP SP3 is giving me the fits so I am dependant on my Laptop for updates.

Default Windows 7

I'm running the Windows 7 RC, and version 5 of the desktop software works perfectly with my Sprint 8330.

If the DM that you have on disk fails, download it from blackberry.com. Sometimes the disk is just bad. (Tech support gets these calls alot, and this usually fixes it)

The rumor I keep hearing about Windows 7 is that most software that is vista compatible will work on 7 as well.
