Sprint 8330m freezes / restarts when attempting to tether
I'm a first-time Blackberry user, and have owned a 8330m for a few days now. Coming from a Treo 755p, I'm pretty excited about it.
I've been tethering my Macbook Pro with the 8330m via Bluetooth for the last couple of days, with a couple sessions lasting 3+ hours. Not too shabby.
However, within the last hour, I've been having issues getting my Macbook Pro to tether with the 8330m again, and I'm stumped.
What happens is when I initiate the connection from my Macbook Pro, the 8330m screen would turn off, and the red LED would stay on. Sometimes, holding the power button turns the device back on. Other times, a battery pull is required.
I even tried wiping the 8330m using the password-fail technique, and the first thing I did after the wipe was re-establishing the Macbook Pro / 8330m BT pairing and trying to tether. But even with a newly wiped 8330m, the screen would still turn off and the red LED stays on.
I've been able to pair and use my BT headset with the 8330m, and right now I'm syncing my Macbook Pro and the 8330m via BT using Missing Sync, both without issues.
I guess I'm familiar enough with the Blackberry OS to be "dangerous". I've got about 20MB free on the 8330m, I've loaded a ton of apps on it (feeling completely liberated coming from a Treo), and just really soaking everything up.
The last thing I installed were Google Mobile Apps and Google Sync... not sure if there've been any issues with these. I'm deleting these apps and will see if removing them helps.
Are there any other troubleshooting suggestions I should follow? Any guidance and advice are appreciated.
Removing Google Mobile Apps didn't help. And I'm assuming a wipe doesn't truly wipe out a Blackberry as completely as other phones, since I can see all the apps and themes I've previously installed or downloaded.
I'm still learning-- and I just learned that a password-failure induced wipe isn't the same as choosing "Wipe Handheld" from Security Options -> General Settings, because "Wipe Handheld" has a choice to delete 3rd-party applications.

8330m has been "twice-wiped" now-- no Missing Sync, no Opera Mini, no themes. Re-paired Macbook Pro + 8330m via BT again.
Voila! It works! The top of the 8330m screen says "Modem Mode Enabled", Wifi is turned off, and I'm browsing facebook on my Macbook Pro... good stuff.
BTW, I'm not using any 3rd-party or even 8330-OEM-supplied software to perform tethering.
Unfortunately, I have a pretty bare 8330m again. Can anyone help shed light what might've caused my tethering to break in the first place?
Just discovered a big "con" of the 8330m. Settings aren't saved off or backed up anywhere. So the calendar reverts back to 9-5 view, ringers, profiles, etc. At least every little thing on my old Treo was backed up and could be retrieved. I've spent 30 minutes trying to find out where to customize the calendar day view.
Not cool. And I still don't know the reason the Curve's tethering stopped. Nothing's hacked, anything 3rd-party are from major vendors (Opera, Google). And I've got other more pressing things that require my attention vs. Blackberry issues.
The motivation to "continue learning" is significantly reduced, especially knowing that every time some threshold is reached I'll be forced to "wipe and reset" everything.
