I have a 8330. was looking at the os version on my bb and noticed that it is not the most recent. using v4.5.0.138 platform 3.4.0.30. want to update but i have a few questions. 1. if i update will it mess with my service with verizon? 2. what will the update do? bug fix new features..etc.. . sorry if I'm asking redundant questions. is there a guide for this? thanks for any help. rob.

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

For future reference, you'll benefit most from upgrades like from 4.2 to 4.5. The numbers after OS4.5.xxx denote which variant of 0S4.5 it is. No real difference in variants, its just what different carriers decide to use. If what you have works for you just stay with it. No point in trying to fix something that aint broke to begin with.

But glad to hear your upgrade process went smoothly.

Actually, attaining a higher variant may make your device worse. I echo the words above strongly.

Since I am using the first build over the Tour, I will definitely look to find a higher variant. Beta or not

I always read through the psosts in the "Latest OS" stickies for whatever device I am using, before downloading an OS. It's a great source of feedback form users here at BBF who have done the upgrade.
