OS: 8330 4.5.0.281/4.5.0.169 ESN Devices (Multilanguage) -
08-19-2009, 12:10 PM
Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8330 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.281 (Multilanguage)
Package Version: 4.5.0.281
Consisting of:
* Applications: 4.5.0.169
* Software Platform: 3.4.0.51
* File name: 8330uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel281_PL3.4.0.51_A4.5.0.169_Ce llular_South.exe
* File size: 83.18MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
Download Here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...C9D4DB0C6BBE45
Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8330:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.
For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html
How to determine if you have an ESN or MEID based device.
From the main menu, select Options, then select Status.
ESN devices - On the Status screen you will see ESN on the display
MEID devices – On the Status screen you will see MEID on the display.
NOTE – You cannot install ESN-based software on a MEID device, nor can you install MEID-based software on an ESN device. They are NOT interchangeable.

Downloading, I guess this means I'll have to set my comp at home so I can install. The family has been bugging me to get it set up so they can play games. Now I have a GOOD reason to get it set up...LOL

Installed and activated on BES. I'll play around with it for a few days and see how things go. Hopefully it's stable.

Nice find.
As for release notes....I haven't ever seen release notes with an OS. Usually you find out what's new from other people who have installed the OS.

I even emailed RIM but that was a dead end. You would think that the developers who wrote the OS upgrade would post release notes indicating what was fixed, added, or removed. I don't know why this has to be a mystery for the end user to figure out. An upgrade was written for a reason so why not post what was changed? If anyone knows where they have hidden such notes, please let us know!

A lot of time the .xxx releases are bug fixes anyway, not major feature upgrades.
There are no hidden notes, but if you find the windmill, please let us know.

Was this "AudioBoost" a feature in the previous version? Tonight was my first time seeing it.
Go to something that uses the Browser's media feature, and turn the volume all the way up, and then some. You'll get a notice saying "You are now activating AudioBoost, this can permanently damage your hearing. Proceed?" with Yes, No, and More Information as choices.
Handy for using in the car with Aux, but I bet it drains the battery. Probably not worth it.

I have the East Asia one installed now so I can write in Chinese - am I able to download the multilanguage one as well, or will it replace the East Asia one?
What languages does the "multilanguage" package support, and what languages does it allow you to type in?
Thanks

According to your profile you have the 8310. This OS is for the 8330. It will not work on your device.

I have this app version installed on my 8310 currently. One thing I have noticed, and I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this issue because I'm running a hybrid, but when I reboot my device, all startup apps are open upon startup, ie. Browser, Phone, BBM, Messages. Kinda strange issue, but other than that, this app version is a solid release. Free memory is extremely high, battery life is good, Memory leaking and recovery is solid.

I think I found in the Media Player, were the Play/Pause Backward/Forward keys would not work, I was able to navigate just find when I clicked my trackball to play the song it would not play.. A battery pull fixed it for now.

My loader.exe is here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
Same for Win 7 64-bit.

My 8330m died yesterday. So I took it to the "sprint store" today and they replaced it. When I got it home it is no longer a 8330m, but an 8330esn. So I downloaded the update, followed the instructions (as I had done in the past) and I now get a message that there is nothing to support my device to be loaded. WTF! any other update have done has worked perfect.? Have they found a way to lock me out? I deleted the vendor file before running the loader.

It's in the first post. But here it is again for you: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html
Also, what glitches are you experiencing?

My battery life increased with this version. The last one sucked my battery very fast and could barely make it through the day. Yesterday, I had about 40% charge left at the end of the day.
Also, I have not been able to get Moodio to work for a while, but I didn't associate it with the OS version. I tried it again after downloading and it works fine again.

thanks js. i've just been experience freezes. no matter what programs. hasn't happened for couple of days though. so who knows. i have that quickpull software and have been doing more then normal reboots. i wouldn't mind it so much as i'm used to rebooting no matter what electronics. but that 3 minutes reboot sucks. and the shortened battery life. i'm coming home at the end of the day with less battery then normal. and at first boot. i've unchecked any program that requires an internet connection at timed intervals.
i used to be able to go about noonish before the battery bar started dropping. but now it's about 9ish.

Do you have BBLight installed? If so, you may just need to reconfigure it.

never had bblight. i don't have a need for a lit screen. i'm talking about the red notification light on the top of bb. the one that blinks for notifications. it used to light up whenever plugged in. at one point and time i even had it set to change green when fully charged. don't remember how i did that.

That had to be a 3rd party app you had installed. That feature is not built into the OS AFAIK.

did a complete wipeout and reloaded 169. see what happens now. reboot dropped from 3 to 2 minutes so that's defenitly nicer. still miss the light though. it was steady red and went off upon complete charge? with the phone on. i'm pretty sure it was some network setting or something like that. but darned if i can find it again.
no 3rd party apps. only had google, amaze, bb app world, and email.

If I download it and decide I don't like 169, can I go back to my previous OS by restoring a backup from DM?
