Good news, the company finally moved me off of T-Mumble to Verizon, so my phone actually has coverage!

New phone is a 8330. Only issue (other than the non-existant instructions common to all Blackberries) is that it will "wake up" frequently when it's not in the holster (hell - it may wake up IN the holster and I just don't see it)

Battery life isn't anywhere near what I had with my 8700G, I'm wondering if this is the problem.

CDMA devices, such as your 8330, typically do not get anywhere near the same battery life as GSM devices. Just by nature of the wireless technology.

I can live with that. Just having a phone with coverage (something T-Mumble hasn't figured out in the LAX/Los Angeles area) is worth it.

But it's still annoying to have the phone "come to life" with no input...

When you sat "come to life" do you mean the screen lights up after its been dim for a while or it lights up from standby mode (which shouldn't be the case since that's the whole point of standby)?
