Default Sync to multiple computers - Outlook

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I searched for an answer and it appears that if I want to sync with Outlook using a work provided BES BB at my home computer the result will be problematic.

I would like to be able to view my calendar and contacts on my home computer. Based on what I found I wanted confirmation that it would be a pita and that I should probably try to import those items using Outlook.

If anyone has experience with this please let me know how it worked for you. Any help is appreciated.

It really depends on the IT Policy that the company puts on the device. Also keep in mind that your calendar and contacts might be mixed with the company information. Not sure if you really want that to happen or not.

The advice I always give to people with a company supplied BB on BES, don't put your personal stuff on it. If you feel the need for personal email, contacts, calendar or whatever, get your own personal device for that.

Thanks Dubdub. The information would not be combined to other contacts, calendar items, or email. It would just be to view the calendar on my home unit (i.e. a blank version of Outlook) and have a copy of my contacts that are already comingled. No personal email would be involved.

I have maintained the contact and calendar in the past via exporting from Outlook and then importing into the home unit. It sounds like what you are saying is to continue doing that way.

Just checking to make sure I wasn't missing an easy sync feature that could save me time.

Thanks

You'd have to disable Wireless Sync to enable wired sync each time (and then re-enable Wireless Sync after completing the wires sync each time).

DO NOT install Desktop Manager with the BES option at home or you will break BES connectivity every time you sync at home.

I'd say just export from Outlook at work and import at home.
