Question HTML enabled mail - 10-19-2009, 06:19 AM

I noticed something wierd with HTML enabled mails on my Curve 8310 (OS: v4.5.0.110)

When I send a mail from scratch on my BB and someone recieves it there is no HTML layout. When I reply a mail from someone with HTML layout, the layout is being kept when the sender recieves my reply?

Why is there no HTML layout when I send a mail from scratch on my BB? HTML is enabled under options, do I miss another option what will activate this?

Blackberries READ HTML, but dont SEND HTML.
I havent heard of the "reply to a HTML email gets sent as a HTML email", but makes a little sense I guess.

It sends HTML when I reply, or how does the layout being kept when recieving a reply from my BB?

I dont quite understand that.
Were you saying originally that when you reply to a email, the original part in HTML is kept?
Or that your reply on that email is HTML?

The original part is HTML, because it came in in HTML, and its just sent back as it came in, but blackberries can only SEND emails that you type in Plain Text.
The reply to a HTML email will show the bit you typed in Plain Text, and the original message in HTML

When I reply a HTML email with my BB and the one who recieves that mail from my BB can reply that email with HTML, the HTML is being kept (if the BB only reads HTML then should that e-mail being replied in plain text??).

When I send an empty (new) email and want to reply that, it's not in HTML.

Right.
BB - Reads HTML from any sender on a pc/webmail.
BB - composes and replies and forwards any text in PLAIN TEXT.

If you reply to a HTML email, it will be in plain text. The original sender replies to it in HTML, your BB reads that HTML, you reply again, in Plain text.

Nope. When I reply a HTML mail and the sender replies that mail again he should get no HTML layout but also Plain Text but it has still it's HTML layout. I've tested it with my home and work email. When I sent a mail from work (HTML) to my home address (the BB) and I reply that mail with my BB and recieve it back on my work it has a HTML layout.

Only when I send a new mail from my BB to my work it doesn't have a HTML layout when I reply on it (the layout is gone when I click on Reply in Outlook).

Ok, as I originally said, I hadn't heard about that before.
But BB's cannot compose in HTML.

Strange that composing a mail doesn't support HTML but replying an HTML mail just works...

It's only strange if you're expecting it to. BB's have never composed (new) email in HTML.

when replying an HTML mail, it does. Could you verify it doesn't with your BB?

Then you don't need to place new between ()... I don't get it why this isn't possible, maybe on newer software releases.

I sent myself HTML email and it showed as HTML on my device (as it should). I replied to the email, and it showed as plain text on my PC (as it should). I am not sure how you're experiencing this as there is no HTML composer on the BlackBerry.

Could you show screenshots of this?

None of those screenshots are HTML emails.
They are all Plain text, except perhaps for the Reply to BB(home) with the BLUE text and green logo and text.

Notice that in the logo disappears and is in black? Thats converted from HTML into plain text.

The left screenshot is 100% HTML when recieving it back from my BB... The last part from my signature from the first mail doesn''t show on that screenshot, I'll make a new one, so you can see. The reply from my BlackBerry is a different signature from the Blackberry itself. You can see that the font recieving from my Blackberry is different then the mail from scratch on the right (with plain text).

Does your signature get added automatically to email?

Try the same steps without the signature, but with colored text.

which signature do you mean? The signature from my BB is configured on my BB itself. The other signature is configured on Outlook (work).

You can see that the font is different in the two mails, the left one is HTML the right one clear text, you also see that the summary (sender, time etc) is different (plain text)...
