So... by 8320 software, you're referring to the blackberry desktop software, correct?

A few details on your Sony would help: CPU, RAM, free space on your drive, if possible.
Do you have any type of recovery disk for your laptop? Norton or MCAffee disk?
Have you tried booting it in safe mode? How long is "Infinite" for the progress bar? ten minutes? Twenty?

The new DM bogged down my desktop at startup ( vista, 2.6 quad core, 4gb ram). I just formatted my drive and started reinstalling stuff. My startup time was less than 2 minutes until I put on the DM, then it went to nearly 5 minutes. I guess what I'm getting at is that it will slow down your PC, so if you're too impatient, it may seem like it's stalling out.
I also read on another forum that the DM w/ roxio is the culprit for these unbelievably slow boot times.
