Default OS: 8310 4.5.0.294/4.5.0.174 (Multilanguage) - 10-20-2009, 09:24 AM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.294 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.294
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.174
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
* File name: 8310M_PBr4.5.0_rel294_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.174_Vodaf one_DE.exe
* File size: 90.92MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...374C8919D2074E

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Upgraded fine, now to see how it runs. Any suggestions on anything different or just bug fixes?

How would I go about installing this on a Mac? I haven't updated my 8310 since I made the switch to Mac.

I'm a Mac user.

You cant update it on a Mac.
Have to use the Desktop Manager which is PC only.

EDIT: well finally after all this time it seems RIM finally released the Mac version of Desktop Manager just this week it looks like.
So there ya go, as long as its the same as the PC version, you can just follow the directions and guides posted here.
I gotta go grab this now been waiting for over a year for some Blackberry love for the Mac!!

I cant download the file though because RIM is retarded. They say that Internet Explorer is required to download the file.

Wow. I really don't know how I managed to fool RIM into believing that my Firefox browser is actually IE when downloading software from their site. And that's without changing the user agent string or using ietabs. You might want to try that download again.

Are you on Windows though? I have a Mac and use Safari. I tried Firefox but it still doesn't work.

Any real good reasons to update from 4.5.0.110 to the ...294? Phone works great as is. Just wondering if they introduced any new features that would make the switch worth the effort.

I understand these downloads may be generic and work with any carrier but is there an easy way to find out if a specific carrier, like AT&T in my case, has suggested an upgrade for my device?
