Problem trying to backup contacts -

It’s not my BB… Ultimately this BB needs to be synced to our BES, however first I need to make sure all this person’s contacts are saved (he has 1,000).
I tried to back up the BB with desktop manager, but it doesn’t connect (my BB does).
When I look at Enterprise Activation, instead of the email & password prompts it looks like an activation is in progress… The screen says “Synchronizing service Desktop…” at the top, with a list of items that it’s trying to sync. All of those items say ‘complete’ except ‘Autotext’ which is ‘initializing’. If I bring up the menu and select cancel, I am asked: “do you want to cancel wireless synchronization?”
The owner is getting personal email forwarded despite this.
2 questions…
Is the hung wireless sync interfering with the connection to DM?
If I cancel the wireless sync will I lose anything on the BB?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
