Default .alx for googletalk?

Hi,

Does anybody have this file? I am using a Curve on a SERO plan and I haven't been able to download Googletalk via the BB Apps (using link) or thru my browser. The only other option is to upload it via USB right?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Mama...but I've tried this site already. When I click on "Download through computer" it tells me that I need to use Internet Explorer, even though I am!!!

Ya coulda said that in your OP. ;)

What version of IE are you using? Did you allow Active X to run and be installed?

Do you have your BlackBerry connected to your computer?

I'm using IE 8. Active X stuff is enabled under security options.

Just to clarify, I'm trying to access this from my desktop computer...

Ok. Good. And you allowed the plug in to RUN when the information bar popped up in the IE window and clicked "Install" for the Active X plug in and then clicked "Allow"?

What error are you getting?


There's no ALX. You have to do it from the BlackBerry site listed above to load it directly to your device, from your BlackBerry Browser, or from BlackBerry App World. There's no other way.

Hi mama,

In IE on my desktop, it doesn't even give me the pop-up, asking me to install the active x (like on other websites).

Is googletalk not supported on the Curve?

Yes unzip it first...connect your phone to your pc, open DM>Application Loader>Browse>and find it.

When I open up the folder in DM, there are no recognized files. It looks like it only recognizes .alx files.

The files in the zip are .cod and .jad.

What should I do? No .alx files.

Do you have a memory card in your phone? if you do, copy the zip folder in your phone memory card, then open the zip folder and open the jad file.

.jad is usually for OTA downloads.
Only thing is to copy to a media card and load from the phone.
I dont know if the 8330 has a media card.

Have you located the file in your phone?...once located just open it, it will take you to the downlaod screen.
