Default desktop software update with tethering

Please Login to Remove!

i have 5 loaded on the curve. and recently i tried using phone as modem. but no luck. using the sprint smartview software. keep getting some error about a computer or something not responding. looks like rim has a service pack for 5.0 desktop software. it includes tethering. but it won't connect either.

is this a 5.0 issue? do i need to go back in time and load 4.5? or did sprint somehow shut down the use of tethering?

i have pc running vista and laptop running xp sp3. tethering is a no go now.

NOW, when running the desktop software. it don't list sprint or verizon in the protocal list. anyone know how to add the profile for sprint in the software. and what protocols to add to sprint specific profile???

username and password. which according to sprint doesn't exist anymore becuase of the blackberry. i think it also applies to windows mobile phones. basically sprint don'[t need a username and password to make the internet work anymore. and they dont' provide you with sprint pcs email now.

desktop software also asks for access point????

id love to know where this service pack is, as I cannot find it under the download for desktop manager on RIM's site.

go to crackberry.com and look for the article. right now it's on page 1. hit the link on there and you'll be directed to the download. service pack 1. for 5.0.
the version is now 5.0.1.

i went to blackberry.com and ended up with only 5.0.0 for download option.

it's been hit and miss today though. so you'll have to keep trying. took me an hour get the actual download.

everyone in the world has been hitting rim servers today.
storm official upgrade to 5. and the service pack just released.

here's the link in case it actually works for anyone.

Sprint shut down tethering if you don't have a tethering plan added to your account.

when i bought the bb. websight specifically said phone as modem. a friend of mine just bought the tour and modem works for her. same plan as me. unless it was just recently. will have to check again when i upgrade the software on her plan.

do 3rd party apps work? i used to use pda on my winmo phone.
