Arrow Recorder Help? - 11-02-2009, 05:15 PM

I want to be able to record lectures. I want to be able to save them on my phone, and not have to email them/message them to myself.

Does the 8300 v4.2 have a video recorder built in?
I figure I could use this even though I do not need video, just sound.

If the phone doesnt come equipped with something to record sound for a period of an hour or so, what download would work? Ideally I'd want something that I could get on to my ipod, but I would also be happy if I could just save the recording on my phone (again - not have to email to myself).

I also read somehwhere online that if I download a newer version of blackberry software, it has a recorder. Not sure if this is true.

Please help!!! Thanks.

The 8300 with OS version 4.2 does not have the ability to record videos. You need to upgrade the phone OS to version 4.5 and get a microSD card for the device.

Alternately, you can upgrade and use the Voice Recorder. A microSD card would still be recommended.

Not sure what (if any) limits on the length of the recording exist, but you could test it out before going to the lectures.

It's free and there's no increased monthly cost.

Go here on a computer to upgrade. It's the easiest way.
BlackBerry - Update your Device Software

Go a backup of the device with BlackBerry Desktop Manager before you upgrade just to be safe in case your data doesn't get restored.
