| Lost use of keys/trackball selection on startup Please Login to Remove! Heres a little background on my predicament:
My 8330 phone is only about a month old and a couple days ago i noticed that the keyboard/trackball was acting funny upon trying to enter in the screen password. single letters were inputting as double asterisks, trackball rolls were entering as double asterisks. I thought that since i'd been dancing for a couple hours while the phone was in my pocket that some moisture off my body was interferring with the circuitry (as i had heard is common with BB's). i let it air out and it worked normal soon after. then again a couple days later, i was again dancing heavily and again, the same problem. Not being one to try and fry a circuit board, i turned off my phone for the rest of the night.
When i got home i took the battery out until the next day when i plugged the device into charge and to my surprise the phone turned on, BUT I HAD LOST ALL ABILITY TO ENTER IN KEY STROKES OR CLICK WITH THE TRACKBALL. I checked my devices moisture indicators and they are still all white (except there is a red line on the white square of my battery..is this an indicator?)
So at this point i did a battery pull (usually helps right?) This is what follows everytime I do a battery pull:
-upon reinsertion of the battery, the red LED lights up solid for ~10sec (with screen still black), then the screen dimly flickers once, then a white screen with a rotating hourglass (that blinks often) that lasts for about 30s, then momentarily flashes my providers logo screen, then starts up normal with the security verification. At this point however i can see my home screen and roll my trackball to various icons, but cannot select anything by clicking the ball or cannot enter in numbers/letters from the keys.
Im pretty sure it has to do something with the moisture as im a pretty sweaty guy when i dance. I tried to let the phone sit with no battery (~12hrs) to drain the capacitor before puttin the battery back in,and i tried the uncooked rice-desicator method to completely dry it off. Could this possibly be fixed by reinstalling the software? or would you suggest taking the phone to a shop to have the boards cleaned? Or perhaps any other suggestions (sorry for the long read but as a chemist i believe its all in the details) |
