Curve 8310 02 Web Problem 2 Attachment(s) Hey. I'd just like to appreciate i've found a dedicated site for the Blackberry(y) I've recently bought a Blackberry from a friend, originally on Vodafone. He had it unlocked for himself and when i bought it, i put in my o2 Sim. I can't seem to get the interent working in any way. If i request for o2 settings, i get a "sorry, we cannot complete your request. please call" If i try and register with the email setup option, i don't have a registered email and password therefore when i try go to the o2email.co.uk or the vodafone, i get this error- Can anyone out there who's had the same problem and resolved it, help a berry fellow out? Thanks :) NOTE: When I tried registering from the vodafone email site, i got this message (the second attached image) |
You need to contact your carrier and make sure that you the proper BlackBerry Data Plan (bolt on) on your account. |
I opt'd for an internet bolt-on, i don't think it was a specific blackberry data plan though. i'm using a pay as you go sim, does that count towards anything? |
O2 do not offer blackberry bolt-ons on PAYG. only contract, and SIM Only plans (30 days rolling contract) Thats why it doesnt work. |
The man told me i was on the internet bolt on but i needed to register my blackberry email with o2email.co.uk... |
The man is wrong. O2 do NOT offer blackberry services on PAYG. SIM Only (Simplicity) Plans, where you pay monthly, but its not a fixed length contract, do have blackberry services bolt-ons. Call O2, ask for technical support and explain your problem. |
that's what i mean. i'm paying monthly with no fixed contract, he mentioned i can always opt out of the bolt-on and recieve full payment back since i can't get the bleedin' thing to work. |
Thats not what you said originally. You said PAYG, which is different. Like I said, call O2, asking for technical support and explain the problem. The bolt-on may not be provisioned correctly. |
i meant, pay monthly-the bolt on, not the sim. the sim is on PAYG i'll ring 2mz and explain clearly. |
Yeh, cause that doesnt sound right either. Like I said, PAYG sim, you cant add a blackberry bolt-on to. Remember to ask for technical support, as customer services won't know what your talking about. |
so, i'm a payg person. does that mean i can never use the internet on my berry? and, i've gotta wait until o2 release settings for it? okay..but i've gotta ring customer services to get through technical support, right? |
No, you cant. You need the blackberry bolt-on. To get the blackberry bolt-on you need a SIM Only (Simplicity) Plan, or a contract plan. O2 don't release settings. They currently do not offer blackberry bolt-ons on PAYG. If you want to be on PAYG, then get your phone unlocked and go to ORANGE. They DO offer blackberry data plans on PAYG. Yes, you ring customer services, and if there isnt an option to press a number to go through to technical support, ask the person you speak to for technical support. If they ask why, say you have a problem with your blackberry. |
Okay. Thanks for the info. Any other updates and i'll be sure to let u know :) |
right. i looked on some other forums and i finally got one person saying all u need to do is download opera mini for your blackberry and the internet should-with no blackberry data plan from your service provider this worked! the internet comes on, pages look great and i must be on an internet bolt on (not a blackberry data plan though) because roaming hasn't charged me a penny! however, i seem to get this error, sometimes : Failed to connect to the Internet. 100 java.io.IOException: Bad DNS Address Click her to start the connection test Try Again any solutions to overcome this? |
