Default blackberry curve 8300 stuck on hourglass

Please Login to Remove!

my wife was given a curve at work and they are on BES. the idiots loaded the phone with literally 12,000 contacts. right off the bat, compared to my phone, it is way slower. justifiably so.

with that, she rebooted the phone b/c it was running slow and now it is permanently stuck on the white screen with the hourglass.

i searched for a similar problems and i came up with people stuck in a reboot cycle with the hourglass. this isnt what is happening here. its just on the white screen/hourglass permanently.

i tried a few things....

took the battery out, let it sit for a few minutes
took out the battery out, took out the memory card.
took out the battery, sim, memory card
connected to USB, pulled the battery

none of this worked.

so is this thing toast? do i have to bring it to ATT? is there something i can do from home?

I would say, YOU shouldn't do anything as this is your wife's device that was given to her by her employer. She should contact her IT dept. and report the issue to them. Tampering with her device may end up with her feeling the backlash for something you've done.

Perfectly stated. It belongs to your wife's emplyer, and is therefore her IT dept's headache. Take it to them, laugh, and say "not my problem".

i have been given the OK by her boss and IT department to do what I have to in order to get her up and running. my wife works from home. all calls are forwarded to her from the office.

we already tried to bring it to a service center and the company plan does not allow her to seek service in that manner.

it is absolutely critical that i fix this phone by tomorrow AM.

once i do get it going, is there a way to delete the entire address book in one shot?

You could try to reload the OS, however she would need to be setup on the BES again.
