| Data Connection Issue Please Login to Remove! AT&T, BB 8320, 4.5.1.110 os.
I can't get BB Messenger, BIS email, internet or gmail (separate app) unless I enable WiFi. Started when I installed Viigo and selected WiFi vs BIS for data connection in the Viigo application. Uninstalled Viigo same problem.
Steps:
1. Battery pull
2. Uninstalled Viigo
3. Battery pull
4. Check for data connection without Wifi
- sent to device from gmail, yahoo and BB messenger. No go
- sent from device using BB messenger, yahoo, gmail and messages. No send
5. Battery pull
6. Log into BIS account via Inet and resend service books.
7. Battery pull
Each time I pulled the battery, I let it sit for a few. I have an unlimited dataplan and all was working before. I have good signal strength and it says EDGE by the signal strength icon vice GSM. Also, no one else is complaining about problems with their BB. Is there a setting I can check? My mobile network data services are on and when I open a data app, I see the arrows for a second then they stop. Any help would be appreciated. | | Offline

Ok, obvious question first. The battery pull should have turned on the mobile network radio, but double check. Is mobile network enabled in manage connections, and are you within mobile network range?
Also, in mobile network in options, make sure you do not have the device set to wifi only.

When you sent service books, did your phone receive them??
There seems to be rolling outages accross the country, and accross multiple carriers today. It sucks, but you may have to ride it out for a couple of hours, just to see if your BB is the problem or if it's RIM's servers causing your problem.
Did you check under "manage connections", and ensure it's not set to wifi there? | | Offline

As for the third, I do not see a way in mobile network options to set it to wifi. I have two entries, one is Data Services and the options are on, off, and something about roaming. The other item is mobile network and it is set for AT&T. I love the obvious questions because that is what usually fixes the issues. Keep em' coming. | | Offline

Did you check under "manage connections", and ensure it's not set to wifi there? | I actually did receive them. That is the strange thing about it. I also had AT&T on the phone and while we were on the phone they said an advisory came out saying there were BB data service issues. I am able to get to the MEdia Net thing from AT&T but my understanding of that is it's not BB Data.
I think you are right about riding it out. AT&T said we are down to doing a wipe and restoring. That doesn't sound good to me because if I backup bad settings/problems, I will just restore those bad settings/problems. I don't want to do that. Sucks to be without it. Guess it's wifi for a few days. | | Offline

The BIS data problems could be your issue, but I thought you said in your first post that you get BIS email, but only if you enable wifi........ By the way I understand things, that means BIS is working for you.
And it also sounds like the carrier's data (medianet) is working. And you can make phone calls, right?

| The connection preference appears to only be on bb's with UMA (8900).
As this doesnt exist on a 9000 either, but people have mentioned this on the 8900

| The 'connection preference' option was also on a Tmo branded 8220 I had once.
korbendallas; Have you tried restoring with a backup from before you had this issue?
