Can i buy a blackberry curve 2 over Ebay with no plan at all ... and still use the wifi?

basically use it like an iTouch... keep a daily journal, set reminders etc. and then just use the wifi when i get into hotspots ?

thanks for your time,
~Paul

Yep.

No email, no other data functions other than the hotspot browser.

Thanks, so i can take this on my thru hike, and use it as a journal for 6 months without paying for the monthly subscription.

when i got to town every ten to 14 days i can find a wifi hotspot and email the entries i've previously written?

i am unsure to get a blackberry or an iTouch... the itouch is much cheaper; but i wanted a keyboard with real keys : /

... when you say no email, i could use the browser to access web based email like yahoo, right ?

Well, if you login through the Hotspot browser to your email, yes that will work... you just won't be able to attach your journal to the email, but you can include the journal in the body of the web-based email.
